University of Illinois Alumni Association - Best Reorganized Club Award

Let it be known that the Greater Philadelphia Illini Club has gone above and beyond the call of duty by successfully resurrecting a long-dormant club on the East Coast. After its kick-off reception in January, the club quickly formed a new board of directors, created a web site and email distribution list, and began sending regular e-updates. Events included regular Illini game watches, an "Around Philly" series of happy hours at different watering holes around the greater Philadelphia area, and a trip to Carnegie Hall to see the UI Wind Symphony perform. The club also hosted a tailgate when the Illini football team traveled to Rutgers this fall, and alumni were thrilled by a surprise visit to the stands from New Jersey Governor and fellow UI graduate John Corzine. It is with great pleasure that the U of I Alumni Association presents the Greater Philadelphia Illini Club with the 110% Award for Best Reorganized Club.
